Surface Electromyography-Controlled Pedestrian Collision Avoidance: A Driving Simulator Study

چکیده
Drivers with disabilities such as hemiplegia or unilateral upper limb amputation restricting steering wheel operation to one arm could encounter the challenge of stabilizing vehicles during pedestrian collision avoidance. An sEMG-controlled assistance system was developed for these drivers enable rapid rotation only healthy arm. Test were recruited use Myo armband a sEMG-based interface perform avoidance in driving simulator. It hypothesized that would be comparable superior vehicle stability manual takeover from automated and conventional operation. The significantly results simulator trials confirm feasibility safe alternative benefit aforesaid disabilities.

Collision Avoidance Training Using a Driving Simulator in Drivers with Parkinson's Disease: a Pilot Study.
Parkinson's disease (PD) impairs driving performance, and simulator studies have shown increased crashes compared to controls. In this pilot study, eight drivers with PD participated in three drive sessions with multiple simulator intersections of varying visibility and traffic load, where an incurring vehicle posed a crash risk. Over the course of the three sessions (once every 1-2 weeks), we ...
متن کاملPerception for collision avoidance and autonomous driving
1 Abstract The Navlab group at Carnegie Mellon University has a long history of development of automated vehicles and intelligent systems for driver assistance. The earlier work of the group concentrated on road following, cross-country driving, and obstacle detection. The new focus is on short-range sensing, to look all around the vehicle for safe driving. The current system uses video sensing...
متن کاملA Predictive Collision Avoidance Model for Pedestrian Simulation
We present a new local method for collision avoidance that is based on collision prediction. In our model, each pedestrian predicts possible future collisions with other pedestrians and then makes an efficient move to avoid them. Experiments show that the new approach leads to considerably shorter and less curved paths, ensuring smooth avoidance behaviour and visually compelling simulations. Th...
متن کاملA ’Cognitive Driving Framework’ for Collision Avoidance in Autonomous Vehicles
The Cognitive Driving Framework is a novel method for forecasting the future states of a multi-agent system that takes into consideration both the intentions of the agents as well as their beliefs about the environment. This is particularly useful for autonomous vehicles operating in an urban environment. The algorithm maintains a posterior probability distribution over agent intents and belief...
متن کاملAn Integrated Adas Solution for Pedestrian Collision Avoidance
Accident statistics indicate that pedestrians constitute a large share of vehicle-related fatalities worldwide. Due to continuing trends towards urbanization, this proportion can be expected to further increase. Advances in passive safety have already proven their effectiveness, but since injuries cannot be completely avoided at higher collision speeds a preferred solution is the complete avoid...
